The University of Toronto announces the search for the next Dean of the Lawrence S. Bloomberg
Faculty of Nursing and invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest.
The University of Toronto is the largest and most prestigious university in Canada, located in one of the world’s great cities.
Recently ranked in the top 20 in the world and 1st in Canada, the University of Toronto has 20,000 faculty and staff, some 80,000
students across three campuses, and an annual budget of almost $2 billion. With one of the top three research libraries in North
America, the University and its partner hospitals were awarded over $1 billion in external research funding last year.
The Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing is committed to the mission of international leadership in nursing research and
education. An integral part of one of North America’s largest academic health science complexes, the Faculty has an impressive
record of collaboration with other health sciences faculties and affiliated hospitals, national and provincial health care agencies,
and professional organizations. As part of the University’s $2 billion Boundless Campaign, the Faculty has raised more than $15
million towards its goal of $25 million – to support student scholarships, endowed chairs, and key academic initiatives that will
improve patient care.
The Dean will advance the further growth and evolution of the Faculty as one of the world’s leading nursing schools. The
Dean will have a record of excellence in scholarship, teaching and administration, and a deep appreciation for excellence in
clinical practice. Demonstrating an enthusiasm for advancement, the Dean will build interdisciplinary relationships within and
beyond academic and health sciences organizations. Spearheading the Faculty’s collaborations within the Toronto Academic
Health Science Network (TAHSN), the Dean will be a key contributor in setting directions for the University and its health
