The Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, University of
British Columbia (UBC) is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track
faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The Department is currently comprised of 13 full-time faculty members, including one Endowed Chair and four Canada Research Chairs, over 100 clinical
faculty and 11 support staff. There are 160 professional entry-level Master
of Physical Therapy (MPT) students, 43 graduate students and 16 post-doctoral research fellows and research associates. The Department has
a strong research culture with approximately $5 million of Primary Investigator grant funding in 2015-16. Physical Therapy faculty members have
research affiliations with hospital-based institutes including Vancouver
Coastal Health Research Institute ( www.vchri.ca), Providence Health Care
Research Institute ( www.providenceresearch.ca), university-based centres
and institutes ( www.ubc.ca/directories/institutescentres.html), as well as
many other collaborative opportunities.
The successful candidate must have completed a doctoral degree in a field
relevant to physical therapy. The successful candidate will have demonstrated
a strong research track record, evidence of excellence in teaching, and a
commitment to service. Postdoctoral experience and an entry-level degree
in physical therapy are preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants
whose research is well aligned with UBC and/or hospital research centres
and whose teaching expertise is relevant to the MPT curriculum.
Responsibilities of this position will include research and scholarly activity,
teaching in the MPT program, teaching and supervision of graduate students
and academic service contributions. The position is available 1 July 2017.
