teaching (and scholarly research for professorial

Department of Biology
CANADA RESEARCH CHAIR (TIER 2) IN
NEUROPHYSIOLOGY
Applications are invited from emerging world-class leaders
in neurophysiology to be nominated for a Canada Research
Chair Tier 2 in Neurophysiology. The successful candidate
will be appointed to a professorial tenure-track position at
the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful
candidate should have a PhD in Biology or a related
discipline and a minimum of three years of postdoctoral
experience at the time of taking up the appointment,
with a prior faculty appointment preferred, or equivalent
qualifications. The incumbent will also have an outstanding
early career record, including training and research awards
and publications in high-quality refereed journals, and
clear evidence of cross-disciplinary collaboration.
BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the
rank of Assistant Lecturer (alternate stream). The successful
candidate will have a PhD in the Biological Sciences or a
related scientific field with a strong interest in science
education. The successful candidate will be responsible
for developing, teaching and administering Biology
courses and/or laboratory/tutorial components at the
undergraduate level. Applicants will have experience
in teaching undergraduate Biology courses (especially
large first- and second-year courses) and have both
expertise and teaching experience in microbiology
and cell biology and/or genetics.

Chemistry, and an outstanding research record.
ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Applications are invited for a professorial tenure-track
appointment at the Assistant Professor level in an area
of Organic Chemistry that involves synthesis or the
development of synthetic methodology. Of particular
interest would be candidates whose organic research
would complement York’s existing strengths in organic
and biological chemistry and interface with cognate
research efforts in such areas as medicinal chemistry,
pharmaceutical (including neuropharmaceutical) chemistry,
or materials chemistry. The successful candidate will have
a PhD in Chemistry, postdoctoral experience in relevant
areas, and an outstanding research record.
PHYSICAL AND/OR ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
Applications are invited for a professorial tenure-track
appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of
Physical and/or Analytical Chemistry. Of particular interest
would be candidates whose research would complement
York’s historic and existing strengths in atmospheric
chemistry and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate
is expected to hold the Guy Warwick Rogers Chair in
Chemistry for a five-year term, renewable subject to
review. The successful candidate will have a PhD in
Chemistry, postdoctoral experience in relevant areas, and
an outstanding research record.
